Engagement ring insurance?!

We finally went to get engagement ring insurance today and it’s $550 a year.... I was not expecting for it to be quite this much. Yikes. Do you have ring insurance? How long do you plan on keeping the insurance for? Forever?

    H had mine insured right after he bought it. I think it is like $200 a year? No clue what it cost/is appraised for (definitely not $30,000) but it is a 2 ct diamond center stone in a thin, pave setting. It is through Traveler's and we bundle it with our two cars and boat insurance (home is insured separately). We will be insuring it forever.
