Engagement ring down the aisle?

Rebecca , on April 28, 2019 at 5:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
What is the usual protocol here? I want to wear my engagement ring on my wedding day but I’m not sure if I’m supposed to wear it down the aisle. Thanks!

Most people wear it! Some either wear it on their right hand so that the wedding band can be put on the left hand and then you just put the engagement ring back to your left hand after or they just wear it on their left hand as usual and the band goes on top and you can just switch the order after! But also some wedding bands these days are made to fit on top of your ring so I think it’s just whatever works for you but it’s definitely fine to wear it down the aisle!

I agree with Grace. I plan to wear it on my right hand and then put it on my left hand after the ceremony.

I wore my engagement ring on my left hand like usual and just switched my rings around after the ceremony. This is really a preference thing!

It's really your preference. I will wear mine on my left hand as usual and have my FW put my band on over it. Some people wear their e-ring on their right hand until after the ceremony, but mine doesn't fit that hand.

I asked this question a few week ago too. 😊
I was originally planning on wearing it on my right hand. A lot of people continue to wear it on their left, during the ceremony have their band put on over it, then switch the band so it's closer to the heart after. My wedding band is a custom shape to fit on the inside of my engagement ring though so that won't work for me. I've been toying with the idea of FH putting both on during the ceremony and not wearing my ER down the aisle. I got a really nice ring box for the RB to have them in so I've been leaning more towards this.

I would put it on your right hand for the ceremony and then have your wedding band placed on your left... then move engagement back to left hand on top of wedding band after the ceremony. That's what I wanted to do, but my engagement ring literally won't fit on my right hand (right hand is a half size bigger, and I have thin fingers/big knuckles so it's already a tight fit to begin with) so I'm just going to keep my engagement ring on as usual on my left hand and have the wedding band placed over it. And I'll probably flip it to have the wedding band on bottom after the ceremony.
