Engagement Ring down the Aisle?

Megan, on May 30, 2022 at 12:05 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 15

My fiance refuses to show me my wedding band. All I know is that my engagement ring and the band are a set. I don't want to make things complicated for him and the best man by having multiple rings to worry about... I don't want anything to look odd if I am wearing my engagement ring down the aisle, and I don't want it to look odd that I already have a ring on during the ring exchange... I told him that because of all this I would just have someone hold my engagement ring during the ceremony then slip it on after, but he says I should just keep it on.

Would it be noticeable/look weird to wear my engagement ring down the aisle?

That wouldn’t look weird at all! I think a huge number of brides wear their engagement rings down the aisle. The groom just puts the wedding ring on top of the engagement ring, then you switch them around after the ceremony. If you don’t want it on your left ring finger though, you could always wear it on your right hand down the aisle.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I wore mine down the aisle. The last thing I'd want is to worry about the whereabouts of another ring

I forgot to mention I actually already wear a ring on my ring finger of my right hand that I planned to also wear the day of the wedding. As long as it wouldn't look weird though then I guess I'm worrying for nothing lol

I totally forgot about it and wore my engagement ring down the aisle. During the ceremony, I just quickly and discretely moved my engagement ring to another finger temporarily for the ring exchange and then when he put the wedding band on, I switched it back so it sat after the wedding band. I don't think anyone noticed, and if they did, I doubt they would have cared.

I gave mine to my dad. He put it in his pocket right before we walked down the isle and gave it back immediately after the ceremony.
If you want to wear it during the ceremony, I think it’s fine. More than likely no one will even notice you have it on.

I wore my engagement ring down the aisle. I wear it all the time so saw no reason to remove it.

I wore mine on my right hand and then put it back on the left before we started doing photos; but I know a lot of people wear it "normally" and just flip them after the ceremony, which seems like your best bet since you have a ring you wear on your right hand habitually.

I don't think so, I think many people do this for the ceremony, and before the reception, you can put it on like you like, and no one will notice the difference. Wear your ring down the aisle

I switched my engagement ring to my right hand before the ceremony. But no one will noticed which hand you wear it on honestly

I didn’t know this was a thing and I wore mine down the aisle - no one must have noticed! Didn’t even know there was an order they’re supposed to be in 🙃

Not gonna lie, I thought it was totally commonplace to wear your e ring. If I didnt you would see the indent on my finger lol

I think there is a lot of flexibility in this. Just got married this Saturday and I didn’t wear mine at all.

You could get a ring box with 3 slots (one for your engagement ring, one for your wedding band, and one for your fiancé's ring) so the best man only has to keep track of the box rather than loose rings. That's what we're planning to do. But your hands will probably be covered by your bouquet anyways, so if you want to wear your engagement ring down the aisle you can and nobody will likely notice.
