Engagement ring after marriage

Juliana, on July 25, 2017 at 6:08 PM Posted in Married Life 0 37

I just got married this past Saturday. Woo, it was beyond my expectations. Now I'm wearing my engagement ring on my right hand instead of my left (same finger). Does anyone else do that? Is it common? I don't see why I would need to keep it on the left since my wedding band is there.. I like the look of how spread out the diamonds are instead of on top of each other on one finger.... thoughts?

I've seen people do this. I think it's fairly common.

Most people I have seen wear their e-ring and wedding bands together on the left hand ring finger.

Never seen it, but so what? If you like it, I love it. They're your hands, not ours.

I've never heard of or seen this before. I've only seen anniversary rings on the right hand.

2 of my friends wear theirs like that.

Sometimes when I'm typing a lot, I switch my e-ring to my right hand because it feels less in the way on my right hand for some reason.

I always heard something like how the rings are worn that one on before the other is meant to have E-ring protect the marriage/promise/relationship. The wedding band moves inward to be closer to the heart like your spouse.

Sorta like the purpose of the ring finger is that it leads to your heart OR that it's the least independently mobile finger on your hand.

They are your rings. You can definitely do whatever you want. I don't think it's common but it's not something I would even notice. I already wear a diamond ring on my right hand so I wear the engagement ring and wedding band together.

My promise ring turned into my engagement ring. I didn't see the need to get a new one. But because of this I wasn't able to get a band to go with my e-ring (it is an awkward shape). So I'm choosing to wear my promise/e-ring on my right hand as well Smiley smile

Back before most, if not all of you were born, women generally did not wear the rings together. So many of my friends stopped wearing their engagement rings all together after a few years (I know you think that would never be you but...). There are no rules, do what you like.

I will be wearing mine together since I have a ring that was passed down from my dad that I've worn on my right hand since I'm 15 (I'm 56).
