Engagement pictures

Hey guys! So we are doing our engagement photos today which we are excited about minus it being 54 degrees and by the beach 🥶. But both of our parents don’t see the point in taking them? Lol it is already part of our photography package and we get married in about 5 months. Would it be too late to try and used them for save the dates if I’m sending out the invitations about 3 months before the wedding? At first I didn’t want save the dates, but now I’m thinking what could I use the pictures for? Thanks

We’ve been engaged for about 3 years now and just took our engagement photos last Friday. It was the first time we took real photos together (after being together for 8 years) so it was a fun experience, if we end up not using the photos for much. We are sending save the dates so we’ll use one or two there and we also have a wedding website and posted a few there, too. I say take them if for nothing else than the experience and getting to know your photographer and ‘how’ to pose together. My FH was very stiff and eventually relax, you can see that in the photos. Rather in these than the wedding photos!

Yes I like this lol we are about to be 6 years together and this is also the first time we take professional pictures so I think it will be nice either way. I also was planning of putting them on our website and maybe doing an electronic save the date lol. Thank you for your input

It’s definitely a good way to get relaxed infront of the camera! i know i was super nervous for ours we had never had photos either and have been together almost 6 years!
we want to do the same for an online RSVP and use some photos for that.
Depending on how fast your photographer gets the photos back to you you could possibly send Save the Date’s.( our photographer took almost a month to get us our photos) in that case it may be too late to send out Save the Dates since your invitations will shortly follow that!it just all depends on timing!Good luck and enjoy your photo shoot today! 😁

If you don’t want to do STDs, you could always create your guestbook using your photos. That’s what we’re doing. We used www.artifactuprising.com to design and print our guestbook. It’s currently being held at my mom’s house (this, no pictures) but it’s beautiful quality. For me, it was a great merge between two things that may not get looked at much after the wedding.

I think if it’s part of the wedding package just do them. We aren’t doing them because it’s an extra cost, and we don’t have time to get them done. But, if it were part of the wedding package I’d totally make time for us to get them done!

STDs sounds like a good way to use them, and if you don’t you always have nice photos for your photo album.

I personally never saw the purpose of engagement photos, but you do you!

I had a friend who got married and used them for her STDs and at her actual wedding (they had a slideshow of pictures of them as a couple and separate--like with their families and friends). Not for me (especially the latter) but hey, it's your wedding. Had another friend who also used them for STDs.

Truthfully, those pictures are more for you and your FH (and maybe a few family members) than anyone else.
