Engagement pictures including step son?

FH and I have our engagement pictures this sunday and we want his son to be apart of it! His boy is 18 months, and I have been in his life since 10 days old. Long story, not a home wrecker I promise! Anyways step-son is more like my own and I feel our wedding day is just asmuch about him and his father and I. So my question is has anyone done a engagement shoot with kids/step kids? And what poses did you do? We're a family no doubt but I want involve him without his mother getting up in arms about it.

I do engagement shoots all the time which include kids/step kids. I think it's a great idea! Usually the child/children are only in about 25% of the photos, though. So bring someone with you to watch him while you do your alone shots - and to take the little guy if he gets fussy so your shoot doesn't get stressed out.
