Engagement Pictures - Blanket Trend

Gabrielle, on October 20, 2018 at 8:29 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 7
Okay. So I have a love/hate with the blanket trend for couples pictures. Some pictures look awkward because the blanket is too small. What does everyone else think?
Our pictures are being done in a local state park by a lake, tall grassy areas, foot paths through the woods, etc.
The temps are going to be in the low 50’s the day we have our session.

i have attached a screenshot of some Pinterest ideas for reference.

I think it’s super cute and I bought a blanket to use, but it ended up being surprisingly warm for our photos and I didn’t use it. But like you said, it may have ended up being too small anyway.

I am actually on the opposing side of the blanket thing. I think it has a tendency to look really staged, and it's HILARIOUS when the blanket is too small. I.E. The top right photo and the bottom left photo where they're S T R E T C H I N G the fabric. lolololol

I say just go with a nice sweater.

I think I like them. Definitely make sure the blanket is big enough.

We're in So Cal, so (local?) people wrapped in a big blanket would seem incredibly staged and awkward to me. If you live in a cold place and are "outdoorsy" people who would normally wrap yourselves in a blanket, okay....

We are doing engagement shots today. We do have a blanket. Plus our super hero mug.

Such photos in the park with a blanket seem very banal to me.

These kinds of photos in the park with a blanket seem very cliché to me. Now on Pinterest you can find lots of non-trivial ideas for photos in any weather and in any temperature. Recently, my husband and I also went to a similar photo shoot and were not very happy with the photos we got. After that photo shoot my husband decided to make me happy so I would not be upset and ordered a custom blanket pillow with our group photo (from that bad photo shoot) on the website. I can say that after such a nice gift, I even liked our photo shoot!
