Engagement pics in winter?

rachel, on December 14, 2017 at 5:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

My fiancé and I got engaged over thanksgiving weekend. We just found a venue and set a date for late October 2018. I really don't want our engagement pics to look sad like the foliage does right now- no leaves, dead trees and no snow. What options do we have? I know we have to send save the dates April ish and I'm not even sure it'll be "spring" looking if we wait till the last minute to take pics. Any advice?

You could wait for the snow to fall. There are some really pretty engagement sessions done in the snow. Or do indoor/home session.

Where are you located? I just took mine Sunday and found a beautiful place for my photos.... try some local farms with fetuses and green houses.. the farm by me had giant white trees, status and a green house.

We are in Charlotte and snow is not guaranteed at all. We could potentially go to the mountains for a shoot. Is it weird to have winter-themed save the dates for a fall wedding?

We did ours in the snow. Are you able to be flexible with planning the date and time for photos?

We just did our photos at our venue. All of the trees were bare, no snow, leaves were dead...but my sister, who was our photographer, took all of those factors into our photos. She threw dead leaves on us while we were lying on the ground, and she put my ring on branches. We also had a stream a couple bridges too.

Our venue is an 18-hole golf course, so we had a ton of options.

Your photographer will take advantage of the environment you decide to take your photos in.

We have fall themed engagement pics for a winter wedding. We originally wanted the seasons to match but we then realized all of our pics would be wintery. We also loved the fall colors and wanted to incorporate them into some of the pics. I wouldn't stress too much about it. If you have a good photographer they will make the pics turn out great no matter the season. We picked a venue that had a lot of stone walls so that there were plenty of backdrops besides just the foliage.
