Engagement Photoshoot Pricing?

Rianna, on May 1, 2019 at 11:08 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 39

Hi everyone! So I'm discussing engagement photoshoots with a few photographers and I'm curious: how much did you budget for JUST the engagement photos? I'm talking with a photographer who is admittedly a bit high-end and he quoted me between $550 - $700. I'm not sure if this is rather pricey or not, but let me know how your own were priced!

Thank you! Smiley smile

I jeeez. I got quoted $100 for engagement photos at a discount for using her as my wedding photographer. I ended up getting them done for free by someone else. Other people have said $150-$300

That’s a lot for engagement photos in my opinion. I paid $250.

    I paid $200.
I'd say look around at some other photographers in your area. If you like their work get a quote and go from there.

Mine was built into my wedding photography package price but I believe her portrait sessions start at $450. I’m in California though so high cost of living area!

I only paid $200 as well but the $200 goes towards wedding day photos if I choose them. It would be something to look into if that's also the case for your photographer.

We are having a grad student in the fine arts and photography take ours. Their previous pictures are beautiful and they're just trying to build a portfolio. I was quoted $20 and $50 from two different ladies for unlimited photos and editing.

Our engagement session was $300. FH got it for me as a Valentine's gift. It was worth the money, especially because I was in an aircast during the shoot and she was very understanding and accommodating of my situation. She is a colleague of his at the newspaper, specializing in sports photography. In addition, she is also an award winning wedding photographer!

In Atlanta it’s 300-500 from the quotes I got. I’m getting mine done in Hawaii though and it’s 700

Hi Amy. Did you just contact your local College/University to see if any Grad students were interested? Thanks.

I'm still in college but did not personally know the girls. Our small town has a local Facebook group where people sell stuff and offer things like photography and art classes. I asked and had multiple responses, then went through their portfolios and picked two for quotes.

My photographer offered a free engagement session with her wedding package. If not, I think she charges somewhere from $300-450 for her engagement sessions. I highly recommend finding the same photographer to do both your engagement and your wedding photos so you get comfortable with your photographer and style, and he/she can become invested in you guys.

I’m in the SF Bay Area and our photographer charges $400 for an engagement session. I have seen them for lower (~$150) but I’m particular with photos and didn’t really like other photographer’s portfolios as much as our photographer’s. We also did another engagement photo shoot with a cosplay photographer we’re fans of and they charged $900 ... but we both agreed it was well worth the money

In short, it really depends on what you’re looking for. Some photographers charge a higher price, but they’re typically more experienced and have better quality pictures.

I was on the same boat last month.. I though $500 was reasonable for a 2hr session and about 50 pics.. well I asked here too and apparently that’s too much.. well I looked on Groupon and boom!!! Found one with so ma y great reviews on multiple sites for a 1.5hour session with the same amount of pics.. for $120!!!! Groupon had an additional sale going on and so I paid $80 total!!!! I just got some of my pics back and they are amazing!!!! I say look for sales.. $700 is way too much!!
