I think we took ours about 9 months before our wedding

We are also getting married May 2020. We took our engagement photos this past May, and I chose several to use on our Save the Dates. Those are done now and printed, and ready to send out. I was going to wait until the end of September to send them, which would be about 8 months before the wedding.

There's no hard rule about when to get them done. But if you are going to use some for your STDs, you should have them taken sooner rather than later. STDs generally go out 6-8 months before the wedding.

Ours got rescheduled three times and we just did it a month before our wedding

We are taking ours at the end of September, so it will be just under a year till our wedding date. Once we get the pictures back, we can design save the dates and hoping to send those out before Thanksgiving.

Hey there fellow May 2020 bride! I plan on having our engagement photos done during September or early October so we can send them out on our save the dates at the beginning of November!

We took our 11 months out, I wanted them done in the summer and we wanted our save the dates to go out 10 months in advance.

Do you book a wedding photographer yet? Some photographers offer free engagement photos included with wedding packages, so that is something to consider to wait until you hire a wedding photographer. It's also a good way to see if you like their work. We did ours about 8 months in advance.

We got engaged December of 2017 but didn't take engagement photos until November 2018 and out wedding is November of this year. We never found the time to take ours so we did them last fall and used them for our Christmas cards since we knew we didn't want to send out save the dates

You can do them any time during your engagement. We took ours 15 months after the proposal and 6 months before the wedding.

We got engaged in April 2018 and got our photos in October 2018 because we wanted fall photos and to send the save the dates out right after Christmas. Our wedding is November 2019.

We made our appointment for engagement photos 13 months from the wedding. I want to have the STDs done about a year out from the wedding so people can prepare. You can do it when you want to!

We got engaged November 2017 and took our engagement photos 2 weeks ago. We're getting married in 16 days.

We've been engaged since Dec 2017 and our wedding is October next year. We will be taking our engagement photos next month in time for me to order our save the dates. I would say if you want to send them as save the dates just make sure you take them right before you need to order them. I don't think there is really a time frame for when to take them.

We got engaged in June 2018 and are getting married November 2020. I just got confirmation that we will be doing our engagement pictures in October 2019. So about 16 months after we got engaged and about 13 months before the wedding.

We took ours 7 months before our wedding, and 6 months after we had been engaged. I wanted to take them sooner, but we had to wait until our photographer could fit us in.

We never did them, lol!
