Engagement photos

I'd recommend doing them soon. There isn't a rush or anything, but it's fun to do when the engagement is still new and exciting. We had planned to do ours a few months after we got engaged, but then covid hit and now we've been engaged for over 2 years, getting married in about 6 months, and still haven't taken our pictures. At this point I still want to do them, but I wish we would have done them when we had just gotten engaged.

Usually right after getting engaged by 1-4 months. My husband and I didn’t do engagement photos. Instead, we didn’t to save that money and put it towards really nice wedding photos

We got married and engaged in January and had them done in August. We got the sneak peak back in time for save the dates but it was very rushed/quick. I’d suggest at least another month in between if you plan to use them for STD. If not, when ever fits your schedule is fine.

A lot of couples use their engagement photos for their save the dates and wedding invites, as well as wedding websites; so if you’re planning on doing any of those things, sooner is better than later. If you’re not, and you’re looking into wedding day photographers, a lot of them also have basic packages that include engagement shoots, so financially that can be super helpful too, but it would be way closer to your actual wedding day.

Depending on what season you would like to take them in, I’d say anytime between this fall and next would work, even if you want to use them for save the dates. We got engaged in March 2020, did our engagement photos in October 2020, and are getting married next month. That gave us plenty of time before to find the photographer we wanted to use for the wedding (who includes engagement photos in most of her packages) and after to get them back and order save the dates.
