Engagement photos this weekend!!

Heather, on June 25, 2019 at 2:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
I’m super excited for our engagement photos this weekend but I never feel comfortable in clothes. I don’t know what to wear. I can’t decide if I should have an outfit change or not. My FH doesn’t really like getting dressed up. Our photos will be at a local waterfall! What did everyone wear for your photos? Any ideas are helpful!! Thank you!!

I just wore a casual dress. My advice is to wear what you're comfortable in Smiley smile and if you are undecided then totally can do outfit changes!

Our photos was 2 hours and we didn't have an outfit change. I always wondered how people did that. Where do you change? How do you not mess up your hair and make up? Who holds all your stuff?

Anyway, we got dressed up, dress and heels, for me and suit, no tie, for him. We just walked around so there was no nature hiking. I would suggest something comfortable and solid color so it photographs well.

My engagement shoot is this Friday, and we're also doing it at a waterfall!! I'm wearing a red jumpsuit with a black lace kimono and black wedges. FH is wearing a white and red plaid button down, jeans, and cowboy boots!

I was wondering that stuff too! 😂 Im glad you said solid colors I didn’t even think of that I was looking at dresses that had a lot going on but with the waterfall scene solid colors are the way to go! Thank you!

    No problem.

Also don't make FH dress up if he doesn't want to. You will want to look back at these photos and see yourselves and not someone who looks stiff and uncomfortable.

Engagement photos are meant to be casual and a representation of you two as a couple. There is plenty of time for formal wedding photos where everyone is dressed up.

We just did ours last month, and I was struggling with what to wear. I don't like the way I look in photos most of the time. But our photographer is awesome, and she knew I was self-conscious, so did everything she could to make me feel beautiful and relaxed for the shoot.

We decided on two looks, one very casual (with our football jerseys on), and the other still casual, but a little more like we're going out. I found a cute spring dress I liked, and FH wore nice jeans and a polo shirt.

As for changing, all FH had to do was put his jersey on over his polo. I wore the dress to the shoot, and when it was time to change, I went to the car. Although, it wasn't really necessary, as I was able to put my capri pants on while still wearing the dress, and then I put my jersey on over the top of the dress, and just slipped the dress down underneath it. It worked perfectly! That's definitely something to think about when choosing your outfits. If you want a change, figure out how to do the transition out in the open, like I did. Here's a peek at our two looks.

We just did ours this last week so haven’t gotten our pictures back (these were taken from our photographer’s Instagram stories during the session), yet. We did one casual outfit: jeans, flannel, boots for fiancé, jeans, boots, cami and lace overlay for me; and one more formal outfit: slacks and button down for fiancé and long chiffon skirt and flowy bodysuit for me. Make sure to wear something that you feel comfortable in as that will really translate in your pictures.

I'm all about flowy maxi dresses! They're very comfortable and also add a lot of nice movement to pictures.

I'm struggling with what to wear as well for my session this weekend too. Definitely something you feel comfortable in; I think I'm gonna to wear causual-ish dress that it's too form-fitting (since I'm self-conscious about my weight right now)

They said probably 3 weeks. I’m itching, but I’m okay with waiting because I know they’ll be incredible!
