Engagement Photos - sneak peeks... I kind of hate them?

I had this (apparently delusional) idea that even though I'm currently not thrilled with how I look - that a professional photographer would make me look good.

And I was actually super excited with how I looked before we started! It just didn't work out in photos.

Okay first off, you look GORGEOUS. I know you don't see it right now, but you do.

Second, confession time: I had the exact same reaction when I first saw our e-pics too. I think it's really easy for those of us who struggle with body image to have unrealistic expectations of what a professional photographer's lens can do. His/her lens doesn't quite catch what you see in the mirror everyday, and it can throw you off. I think we're also, frankly, WAY too hard on ourselves. It took me like a full day to come around to my e-pics, and even still there's some that I scroll right past.

Give yourself a day or two and reevaluate. Think about it this way: would the photog have sent you these as a sneak peek if he/she didn't think you look awesome?

You look awesome in those pictures. Truly. And, thin. I'm just not seeing what you're seeing. But, I know that feeling. I felt overweight in my e-pics which I posted a couple days ago, but I reminded myself that I've been working really hard to lose weight (dress shopping in Dec. was my wake-up call). If you're not happy, it can be changed, but don't be so hard on yourself either. These are beautiful pictures. And I mean that.

I think you look amazing. Please give yourself a little time.

I am pretty sure I will have the same reaction with ours... as I am currently as big as I have ever been.. but remind myself.. I have a man that loves me no matter what..

So, I will try to lose a few before the wedding, but I cannot sweat that right now.

Since I've gotten the pics, I've looked at them and studied them 100 times. I'm slowly coming around. I kinda like the 2nd one enough that I put it on Fbook.

There's a 4th pic that threw me off the most. I was horrified when I saw it - and I'm not sure I will come around on that one.

I guess I'm worried because what if our photographer thinks that THESE were the best he got? I'll be devastated. There were so many other shots he took that I thought would be an awesome photo... but now I'm not so sure.

I need it to be Sunday! Or I don't. I don't even know.

I think I got too freaked out about what I thought - and I knew FH would love them. He thinks I'm gorgeous when I'm sick as crap. It's just been a REALLY bad week for me and this kinda panicked me too.

Paris - I know you've been doing WW. I've done it before (and lost 60 pounds!) but I've gained back about 15. I'm counting points again starting TODAY.

I will like these photos eventually. I'll like them even more if I get a little skinnier and can compare them to me on my wedding day lol.

We can always compare notes, and for losing 60 in the past, you're a rockstar. I lost 30 and gained back 15. What is with that number 15 anyway.

I love the pink scarf in the pictures. What a fun touch. That's primarily what I noticed. It compliments your blond hair really well.

I think they look great! I love the second one! But I know how you feel. Once I got our pics I started picking out everything wrong with them that seemed glaringly obvious to me but no one else noticed anythinf wrong. We are our own worst critics.

I think you look great! Remember, photographers see completely different things in photos ( such as lighting and contrasts they love) and don't notice the things we may be insecure about. So although they thinks these ones are great, you might love done if the others because you don't notice some of the stuff you are insecure about, you know? Anyway, I think you look great!

I think you look absolutely fabulous. I know we see ourselves in the worst light possible. We truly are our own worst enemies. But take it from an unbiased community. We love these pictures! I think they'd be worthy to go on an STD!

I have struggled with this stuff my whole life, so I get where you're coming from. However, from an outsider's perspective, you look beautiful and your body looks great.

No one else will zoom in on your "problem areas" the way you do. They will just see a beautiful girl with her fiancé.

I'm not sure if that is much consolation, but I hope you come around on your pics. You really do look great!

I think you look great in your pictures. We really are our own worst critics and as a plus-size bride I know how hard it is to look a picture of yourself and think you look good even though everyone else loves the picture.

I know we are all our own worst critic, but I think these pictures came out beautiful. Your hair and makeup looks great, and you do NOT look "fat".

Here is a video clip for a model who is getting ready for a photoshoot and it also shows how much the pictures are photoshopped afterwards. It makes you realize than the "perfect" pictures we see on the cover of magazines are not as perfect as we think.
