Engagement Photos Attire

Imani, on May 10, 2022 at 8:29 AM Posted in Community Conversations 2 30
Often times I see engagement photos where couples are dressed formally. I do not have anything formal per se to take photos in. However, I bought this outfit I was going to wear for New Years and never wore it. I have it in blue and wanted to wear it for our photos. But does it say ‘engagement’? I’m aware I can wear what I want, but I also want the pictures to turn out nice. Should I be looking for a formal dress to wear? We’re getting married the end of July. Are the photos even necessary at this point?Engagement Photos Attire 1

I’d say get them whoever you want! I’m going to get mine done next month or the month after and I’ve been engaged over a year and getting married in October. Also I totally think it’s up to every couple what they feel like dressing in. I won’t be dressing formal. It’s not my style 🤷🏻‍♀️ That jumpsuit is cute!

Thank you Taylor! I really like the outfit and I already know the place I want to take the photos. I just need to plan to take them SOON. My SIL is a photographer and has agreed to take the photos for us. Her birthday is this weekend, so maybe we can plan for the weekend after or the last weekend of the month.

Engagement photos aren't really necessary at any point lol. That also means you can take them at any time you want. The outfit looks super cute and would be great for a photo shoot. I think it also just depends on the setting. Like, that outfit may look a little out of place in a country barn or something, but fabulous at a museum. I've seen engagement photos with people wearing nice jeans and tops, and they look nice. It doesn't have to be formal dresses!

Honestly I think it’s Sexy AF and if that’s the vibe you are going for then go for it! Your pics should represent your vibe there are no rules. As for us, we missed the window to do a engagement shoot, So now we’re taking post nuptial photos that will be in black-and-white. Since we do a lot of black-tie events we are dressing formally and taking them at our favorite museum. We didn’t want cookie cutter engagement photos. We wanted pics that represent our lifestyle.

Thank you Sloane!! I LOVE me some black and white photos. It’s just something about them that stick out to me. I never thought about museum photos. I know another thing I’ll have to consider is the weather. It was 99 here this past weekend, I know we will not be out there long taking photos lol

That spot is beautiful, and I think the jumpsuit will totally work for it! We've been engaged almost 2 and a half years and just got around to taking our engagement pictures. Maybe talk with your photographer to see if the sparkle on the outfit would be an issue with the pictures, but other than that, I can't see any reason not to go for it!

You wear whatever you feel your best in! I think that jumpsuit looks gorg and def goes with the location. I also don’t think there’s any real timing to taking the e également pics. I got mine done like two months after being engaged but I was already planning our yearly family pics so I just turned that into the engagement session. Good luck with your session!

What a beautiful spot, and a fun jumpsuit! I think go for it!

For me, we got engagement pictures to give us an opportunity to 'try out' our photographer before our wedding day - to get used to him and feel more comfortable on the day, as well as being able to iron out some little details ahead of time - my now-husband and I have a huge height difference (about 45cm/1.5 feet!) so we wanted to practise some good poses that would accommodate that before our wedding. They're in no way required or anything, but they are fun!

I knew we'd be keeping them and showing them for years, so I wanted to wear something that wouldn't date TOO much, and was really representative of us, our vibe and our relationship generally - if this is your goal too, and the jumpsuit fits that, then how perfect!

Awesome! Thank you so much Rosie. I absolutely love dressing up and I am always up for a good photo op.! I like the idea of trying out the photographer - I think that’s a great idea. My SIL agreed to do our wedding photos but we want her to enjoy the wedding and not worry about working it.

If you have the outfit & sis in law is ready with her camera, then go for it! You can always post the photos to your wedding web site! One thing you must do, print off some wallets thru mpix. My kids each have an engagement photo of me & hubby from 27 years ago! Now that is old school! Is this San Antonio?
