Engagement Photo location?

We took our engagement photos at a winery/vineyard. It's actually owned by the parents of the guy who owns the photography company (our photographer is one of the ladies who works for him). I had no idea where I wanted to take our photos, but she gave us lots of recommendations. FH and I wore a formal outfit and a casual outfit

We had our engagement photos taken at the state park we got engaged at. We didn't have a lot of time to pick out our outfits because our photos were done very quickly after finding a photographer otherwise I would have worn different outfits.

We live in the Hudson valley (NY) so we did ours at Minnewaska, formal ones by the waterfall and informal ones by the cliffs with a picnic blanket



We also went with burgundy and gray colors because that’s our wedding scheme

We did ours in a park and by a lake (2 locations with an outfit change). The park had a bridge, a water mill, flowers, things like that. The lake had natural outdoor elements.

I wore a shift dress to the park and a maxi dress to the lake.

We got our photos done in the city we are getting married in, not where we live. We picked a location that matched the formality and color theme of our wedding so the save the dates would go with our wedding invitations if that makes sense.

We had two engagement photo sessions, one was at the beach in San Diego, the other was in downtown Chicago. I love how we were able to do both because the locations were so different and gave us variety. I do want photos in nature scenery as well at a forest preserve or in a national park, so we'll most likely just take couple photos in the future.

We did two locations for our engagement photos: a local coffee shop and a skate park with some cool grafitti.

Our photographer is a family friend that now lives in another state. I hoped that she would come back towards our hometown and do our photos but the only way we could have her take them in June was to meet her halfway in Iowa. We live in Illinois. It wasn’t horrible because we stayed with family that weekend but I was not expecting to do our photos in Iowa. Lol. We were not familiar with the location at all but just left it up to her to decide where we shot the photos. It was just a sweet little park with some open area, trees, hills and a beautiful sunset with not many people there at the time.


We did two outfits. For our first I wore a blue long floral dress and he wore a light blue that matches nicely. For our second we both changed into jeans, he had on a plaid shirt and I had on like an aztec-y top.

We took ours in Riverside Park in NYC. It's right by where DH grew up, and our wedding was in NYC, and our photographer for the engagement pictures was also based there.

This also let us find a baseball field, stairs, and the kind of wild/urban background that looks really great in pictures.
