Engagement photo editing

Ania, on January 9, 2018 at 11:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Hello ladies,

We just got some our engagement photos back and we love them. However, on some of the pictures my acne scarring is showing a lot. Now I am not sure if I should ask politely if my photographer if he could fix that a little or just not say anything? I don't want to sound needy or very picky coz he did an amazing job. Please help.

You could write to him and say that you really like the photos he has provided but, are self-conscious about your acne scarring and you wonder if there is anything he might be able to do.

He may or may not be able to help but, there is no harm in asking. Is there anything in your contract that discusses this? Be prepared for possible extra fees to spend time doing this for you.

Thank you so much, if it costs extra that will be fine. I just don't want to be that kind a person that complains.

Just ask your photographer. I'm a photographer and speaking from experience, I wouldn't mind if a customer asked me to make a few small edits like that. I want a customer to LOVE his/her photos and feel BEAUTIFUL, so going the extra step (if I didn't edit it already) is no problem. Happy Hedgie gave great advice (and there may be a small extra fee, but maybe not) Smiley smile Just be sure to ask your photographer, rather than editing photos yourself (that would be infringement to edit someone else's work).

I think it's reasonable. You paid a substantially amount of money I'm sure.

I'm sure you can ask! We decided to go with a photographer who doesn't use photoshop much and just shoots naturally. You better believe if I have acne on my wedding day I'll ask her to fix it!

I’d ask! He should be able to photoshop it out pretty easily. You aren’t being needy or complaining. You’re paying him for a service and I’m sure he’s happy to accommodate a reasonable request.

I use picmonkey online and the editing is easy enough to do yourself. But I agree with pp, she shouldn't have a problem touching up a few of them

I would definitely ask! Pictures are so expensive and you should love them!

It's hard deciding what people may not want to have show in photos. I accidentally edited someone's chemo port scar out once, and felt awful when they asked me about it. I thought it was like a peeling sunburn spot. Now I'm really cautious about what I take out. I have to be like absolutely certain it's a pimple if I retouch it. They probably aren't aware you aren't fond of those marks, so they don't want to edit them out and make you feel like they make you less than beautiful, ya know?
