Engagement photo book from Shutterfly

Rachey, on April 6, 2014 at 8:52 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I've just created a photo book that will also double as a guest sign in book where they can write us wedding wishes. Has anyone used shutterfly? I'm wondering how the quality is. All our pics are high res but it doesn't look high res as I'm making it. Maybe they squash the files just for a preview. I'm wondering how the finished product will look. My eng photographer wanted $299 to create a book but I'm doing it for about $69 since I added some pages and opted for the "flat" pages so it lays flat on the table.

I just did a Shutterfly book with engagement photos and our proposal photos and story. I worried like you did as I was making it about the quality but omg. It turned out awesome!!! It's so much better in person. I didn't get the lay flat pages, but it absolutely love it. It's on our coffee table and every time I sit down on the couch I find myself flipping through it. It is great. Smiley smile

I used a coupon code for $30 off a week or so ago, so I paid $20. It would have been worth it to pay full price in my opinion.

They just had a coupon for a free hard cover 20 page book two weeks ago! I used it and made a book with all of our pictures from dating. It turned out so much better than I thought! It looks really professional! It did take a week and a half to ship from North Carolina to tn, so that was a little annoying!

I did mine for a guest book too. However, I paid the extra $35 to upgrade to the flat pages. It was SO worth it. I've made SO many photobooks on shutterflys over the years and seriously the flat pages are a way higher quality which makes your pictures look amazing.

I was kind of hesitant thinking it was a waste of money but as soon as I got it I love it. It was completely worth it to upgrade.

The preview is always squashed and low quality. But the images are better, I paid the extra for a layflat book and it's worth the price. The quality is excellent. I've made photo books in the past just for my daughters baby book with the regular pages and you can tell the difference. Smiley smile I like those too, but for a super special occasion this is really nice!

So do the pages feel like magazine pages or are they thicker?

I just made mine on Mixbook and LOVE, love, love it! I paid for the flat pages and they are super thick! Like boardbook pages! I would definitely recommend springing for layflat book. Mixbook prints your spread on one sheet of paper so there is absolutely no gutter. Not sure for Shutterfly.

I got a Shutterfly guestbook with a free coupon, so I paid less than $10 for shipping. I didn't upgrade to flat pages, but I think it's perfectly fine how it is. The pages are maybe about the same weight as a poster -- definitely thicker than a magazine or regular paper. The book overall came out really well.

The flat book the pages are thick, almost like a childrens board book sort to speak. If you don't go with flat pages then its like magazine. At least that's what my guest book feels like.

The shutterfly books with layflat pages are amazing. You won't be disappointed! The resolution will be clearer in person.

And as several people have already stated; don't pay full price. Subscribe to their email, check their specials and check retailmenot.com to get coupon codes. They run them frequently and you have plenty of time before your wedding!

I did that for mine too, and I love it. But please don't pay $69 for it I think I have a coupon code for you, they still send me coupons for a free photo book, I usually give it away. Let me check and get back to you...

BOOM! I found it.. the code expires May 31. Do you want me to type it in the coments, or if you connect with me I can message it to you. It can't be redeemed more than once, and I ddn't want to post it and maybe a horrible person steals it!

The pages in standard binding (not lay flat) are not like magazine pages. They're thick. I find myself trying to peel two pages apart when they're aren't two pages there.

I also made a lay flat book for my first book and I love it! I order shutterfly books all the time for my kids scrapbooks and I'm never disappointed.

They also have a code right now for 50% off hardcover books

I'm also designing one for my guest book, I've always been super happy with the quality in the past. I wasnt sure if I wanted to pay extra for the latflat pages, but after reading this I'm going for it!

I did our photo guest book and our engagement photo book from shutterfly and I paid $8 (the cost of shipping) for both. I've never upgraded to the flat pages but the normal ones are great quality and there is usually a deal/coupon code to be found to get them for free or at a deep discount! And their customer service is great!! My last book came in with a glue spot on the page that caused the pages to stick together, they sent me a new one for free in 48 hours!!

I had a coupon for a discounted photo book from them and made my MIL a book of our engagement pics and one of wedding pics. I got the hard cover and they turned out great! I thought the quality was very good. No complaints.
