Your photographer should have guidelines for you. Typically photographers recommend wearing neutral colors in solids or minimal patterns, and wearing clothes that are comfortable to move in and that you find flattering. Just wear the cutest cold weather clothes you have. A cute sweater and scarf can be an adorable cold weather look.

I planned on bringing a heavy blanket and lots of hot cocoa! I’m too stubborn to alter my outfits to match the weather.

Boots, jeans and a nice solid color sweater? Or a sweater dress? Or long sleeve solid color dress?

A cute sweater with jeans would be my pick! Your SO could wear a long-sleeve button down shirt or polo

It was 34° outside when we took ours. The windchill was about 19°. Here's a few shots. I almost froze in that lace dress. Lol! My fiancé commented that he looked like he had a tummy in some of the pics and he only has a 32 inch waist. I later found out he had on thermal underwear! 😂😂 Men!! Gotta love them. ❤ Good luck!! 😊

I'm struggling with this too! My photos are being taken on November 1st.

Currently, I'm deciding between a short dress with sleeves + tights + boots, a long wrap maxi dress, and pants with a nice sweater and boots. (We get 2 outfits, generally a more casual look and a dressier one.)

My friend recently took her engagement photos and even though it was super sunny, it was chilly, and she had summer outfits planned. She said she put her coat on in between shots, so I'm planning on having mine handy!

We took ours last weekend I'm in New England so it's starting to get chilly. I wore a sweater, jeans, and boots for our casual pictures. The more formal ones I wore a white dress with off the shoulder straps and i just sucked it up and pretended I was warm because I really wanted to wear the dress. It wasn't that bad the shoot lasted a little over an hour.

You can wear boots, a cute dress with leggings and a blanket scarf? or if you have a nice dressy wool coat that would look cute too!!

We just did our engagement photos yesterday! IT was so much fun. I wore a long sleeved dress, leggings, and boots. He wore a nice long sleeved button up shirt and nice pants. I never thought to ask my photographer what to wear. We just picked something nice for our pics. I've seen some outdoorsy people wear flannel and I've seen people who wear suits and dresses/skirts dress up for them. I think it's about capturing you and your personal style

We recently did our engagement photos. I initially had a black and white dress and a black crochet cardigan/sweater planned, but our original date got rained out. Since it was cold and windy when we finally did our session, I ended up opting for black jeggings, boots, a black top with red piping accent, and leather jacket. My fiance also ended up wearing black everything plus leather jacket. It's what we both feel comfortable in.

My suggestion is to think of what you would typically wear out and about during the fall. If you have an outfit that you love and makes you feel awesome, then perhaps that could work for you. As I've heard from photographers before, if you choose your session to experiment with your style, you could up feeling uncomfortable, and that can really show in your photos.
