Engagement Party

Definitely not! We’re having an engagement party just with our families and a few close friends because they’re the ones who want to celebrate. My grandparents are hosting it since they have a large house

Pre-wedding events can be as formal or as casual as you choose.

It honestly doesn’t matter. It’s competely up to you and your and budget. My parents just had a a little dinner at their house and my old co worker had a get together at their house. It was nothing big or fancy

Nope! It can be as grand or as casual as you want. You don't have to invite everyone that you're inviting to the wedding.

We did ours super super casual- just our wedding party meet up and a bbq in our backyard. You don’t need to invite everyone and typically you’re not the one hosting it in the first place

Definitely not and can be as casual as you’d like. For my sister they just had a cookout in my parents backyard and me and my fiancé opted not to have one.

The engagement party shouldn't be AS nice as the wedding. Then what would people have to look forward to lol.

Absolutely not. Every engagement party I have ever been to has been a casual gathering at someone's house. You also don't need to invite everyone on your wedding guest list (but everyone invited to pre-wedding events should be invited to the wedding).

Nope, I invited people to come out and celebrate with us if they wanted to. I also had people pay for their own meals or drinks. We just had it a room at a restaurant and just wanted to go out for drinks. If you ordered dinner than you paid for it. I didn't do really a big thing.

We didn't have one, but the only one I've been to was a simple backyard BBQ! Very casual, and very fun!

The only one I went to was actually a picnic. It was held at a park and there were games. Very casual. I think casual actually works better because it allows for meeting the other side and getting to know them better than a formal affair does (IMO).

Just make sure to tell people that they are paying for themselves. I created a FB event and posted just date, time, location, told them they are paying for themselves and to just come out and celebrate. I just found a restaurant that didn't charge for the room to hold 40 people.
