Hello! I'm newly engaged trying to plan our engagement party. Everyone seems to have different ideas as far as what favors would be good to give the party. FHs step mom says something easy like chocolate covered pretzels or a little candy bar, his mom says kind of cheesy picture frames with a picture of us in it (I can't imagine that everyone coming will want a picture of us in their home) and my mom just wants to keep the peace. So I guess what I'm looking for is a little guidance or advice on what other people have given as favors. Our engagement party is in October and has a fall theme. It's relatively large and taking place at my mom's house. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You shouldn't be throwing your own engagement party. Typically someone else hosts it for you.

ETA: To be clear I see its at your mom's house so maybe she's technically hosting but I'm still confused as to why you're involved in the planning for it. Helping plan it is like helping plan your wedding shower.

My mom is kind of hosting it for me but she gets easily stressed so I told her I'd help her with whatever she wanted. The only thing she's asked me to help with is this, but I'm just kinda at a standstill with ideas.

We had our engagement party in October of last year and I made caramel apples. It was super cute.....but all the caramel slid off by the end of the night (they were packaged, so it was contained). Perhaps because of the wax on the apples? I'd go with cute choc pretzels. that seems more full-proof.

(and don't listen to the whole "don't throw your own engagement party". My FH planned ours because we love to host and wanted to celebrate with our friends and family. No one thought otherwise of it.)

Favors are definitely not necessary for an engagement party! But between those two options I'd definitely pick the edible one! You're totally right that everyone isn't going to want a framed picture of the two of you
