I know it's usually said that you send Save the dates only to those who can later expect an actual invitation to the wedding.
My fiancé has a very large extended family, some of whom cannot recognize him in a room, and don't know him well. They WILL expect invitations because of his grandmother or if we send save the dates and unfortunately due to our budget they won't all be invited.
Should we send out engagement announcements to these people, as well as those who will be our actual guests? And then save the dates to only those who can expect an invitation? Or no engagement announcements at all and just let those who won't be invited kinda get the hint??
General advice/opinions appreciated
(We don't plan on sending save the dates out for about a year obviously since we're still almost 2 years out)
