Enclosed or open photo booth?

on October 14, 2018 at 10:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
Pros and cons of each? Which one did you have/did you choose? I think a photo booth would be fun at my wedding, but I’m not sure which to choose/look for. Would a backdrop and props and then a camera be too distracting/bright? Is a fully enclosed photo booth a better idea?

Maybe I’m weird but I like the old school enclosed photo booths.

That’s what I’ll be having at my wedding.

See I’m just as torn about this as you are lol. I love photo booths (in fact it’s mine and my FH thing, anytime date night there’s a photo booth we go in) and will incorporate it at the wedding but I don’t know which I prefer for the big day. I like the old school booth but there’s more to do with props outside of the booth. I think when push comes to shove I think I would go with the old school booth.

My brother had the open photobooth we had so much fun with it and I think it really helped the older relatives have the confidence to go over and take some pictures plus the videographer got some good shots of people doing the photobooth and we could fit bigger groups in there !

Just wondering, was this open photobooth in a different room than the rest of the reception? If it was in the same room, was it distracting with the flashes?

No it was in the same room just off to the side so the flash and machine faced toward the wall and away from the dance floor.

I did a DIY open air photobooth off to the side of the dance floor and it was a hit! I had a sequin curtain, props, and a NEEWER ring light pointed at the curtain. I also worried about it being too distracting or in the way, but it was perfect and people used it all night. And I only spent $180 on amazon to make it all happen.
I think old school photo booths are cute... but it limits a lot of things. It was important for me to let guests take pics on their phones because I knew people would want to post pics with me on Facebook right away. A lot of these old school photo booths just give you a printed out strip, which is cute on your wallet, but people will likely ask to “take one on their phone too” so they can post on FB. Also, I wanted open air so we. oils stuff in a bunch of people if needed lol. I had one picture with 8 people in it, which would be very hard if in a small booth! Last, I think it’s easy to forget that an enclosed booth is there, since you can’t see how much fun everyone is having in it. Part of the reason mine was such a bit was because people would see me taking pictures with other people and get in line for their picture to be taken, too.

Ours is open. I think having it open allows other guests to see how much fun is being held and will encourage them to also use the photo booth.

We had an open photo booth and I would HIGHLY recommend it! We had it open for 3 hours and there was always a line to use it as think watching everyone else pose generated a lot of fun/interest. It wasn't distracting at all, we didn't notice the flash, etc. Our back drop was a sequined fabric that matched our wedding colors so it coordinated well with everything else in the room.

Ours is a small room, so more open. I prefer more open, more people can fit into pictures!
