Emailing Vendors

Lisa, on September 16, 2020 at 12:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
This weekend I was thinking about a few questions for our venue, photographer and baker. I fought my inner demons and waited until Monday to send the emails.

Since our wedding was postponed from October 2020 to October 2021 part of me feels guilty or “needy” to email our vendors with every question so I try to wait to send the email until I have more than one.

So my question is, do you wait to ask questions or do you just fire them off as they come to you? Are you waiting for in person meetings? Is there such thing as too many questions?

I just don’t want to be bothersome to the vendors when we have so much time but then again we are paying a large sum of money to them, we should be able to ask questions, right!?

I waited until I had many questions to ask all at once Or I would have days where I’d try to come up with more questions aha but sometimes that doesn’t happen because you may come up with more questions later.

They should see you as a client just as they see people with sooner weddings as a client. Go ahead and ask, October 2021 is only a little over a year away and most people are in full swing with wedding planning at that point. But sometimes it’s best to save all your questions and just email them once a month so you dont have to email a bunch of times

For me personally, I email whenever I think of something lol my vendors seem to not care. They always tell me to continue to email/call with whatever questions I have. Especially during covid, they should be used to it because I am sure that you aren't the only one sending emails.

For me, it depended on the question. If it was something I needed a response to quickly or that the response would help me in planning other parts of my wedding, we'd contact the vendor that day. If it was a "just out of curiosity" question or something that I didn't really need the answer immediately, I'd wait until I had a couple questions.

Typically I tried to hold all my questions for one email, as I also just randomly come up with things I want to ask. I actually try to hold off in sending an email until I have a payment due, as most of our payments for all vendors are pretty spaced out so I'll try to line it up so that it's like "Hi XXX, I know we have a payment due soon, let me know how you want me to pay it (card or check). Also, I have a few questions below..." I figure they'll be more inclined to answer my questions when I'm going to pay them lol. But definitely when the wedding gets closer and more execution items need to occur, I think it is okay to send more messages a little more frequently.

When I had a question, I emailed them immediately. Mostly because I'm impatient Smiley xd , but also because I did not want to forget! If you are just emailing them, they can respond at their leisure, so it is not like you are taking up all of their time. And even if you do, you hired them! Email and ask away!
