Email Save the Dates for Coworkers

FutureMrsBurroughs, on April 10, 2017 at 10:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

My fiance and I work for the same company but are now located in different offices. I recently made the move to a new office/position. We have created our guest list which includes everyone in the office she is still in and a few of my new co-workers. Our thought is to send out an email to the people in her office with our save the date attached then post one in the office for everyone to see in person. Is this tacky? Help!

I would just skip them. They are not necessary. We did save the dates but only sent them to family.

I don't know if I would want to post it for everybody to see. What if somebody new joins the company tomorrow and assumes they're invited since the posting is for everybody.

Also second Laura, Save The Dates aren't necessary!

I wouldn't post it, and I wouldn't send it either. STD's lock you into a guest list and things may change, especially in a work situation.

I wouldn't post it because it will be interpreted as an open invitation to anyone in the office.

Definitely no email save the dates and no copy posted in the break room! If you really want to invite these people then they deserve the same level of formality that the rest of your invited guests are treated with.

I'm not going to tell you not to invite them, although a lot of people will. I'm breaking that "rule" myself and inviting my team from work to the wedding. I didn't send them save the dates, though. The invitation 6-ish weeks before the wedding will give them plenty of time to plan. And what if I were to lose my job tomorrow? Or get a better offer somewhere else and resign? I would hate to be locked in to inviting former colleagues if things ended badly!

Thanks, Ladies! I think we are just going to mail them to a few of our co-workers we regularly hangout with outside of work and re-evaluate when it is time for invitations!
