Eloping?

"Eloping" has a pretty vague meaning these days. It used to mean you took off in the dead of night to avoid family members who might try to stop the marriage. These days, it often just means an intimate wedding--which may be planned long in advance, and may involve more than just the couple. (Indeed, many states require you to have as many as two witnesses, so just the two of you wouldn't be possible in those states.)

Our ceremony was a bit bigger than yours--a dozen people, including us and the rabbi.

We are eloping next month! We were originally planning a wedding (twice actually) when we first got engaged 3.5yrs ago. Just this month I said to me fiance, "let's just do it, let's just go and get married next month!". We are planning a destination elopement to the White Mountains with just us and our photographer (who also happens to be a life long bestfriend). Although we are planning it, we don't plan to tell anyone until afterwards.

We originally planned on eloping. I did courthouse the first time. This time around we were going to elope in Hawaii with a few guests but my mom gave me the whole "before I die" speech and wants us to have a full wedding so what can you do?? lol Do you know where you would like to get married at?

Technically we are having a micro wedding and I thought it was an elopement. Lol We have less then 20 people including us, my daughter, photographer and officiant. I planned this in 3 months. I really wanted memories captured and that’s why I hired a photographer.

We’re doing this! We got engaged in March, just had a beautiful engagement party on 8/11 and plan to elope to Hawaii in March 2021.

We're doing the same thing. Just him, me, and the officiant. October 2020. ☺ We'll have a small, 25 people celebration afterward!

We spoke of it. Although blending families we want our children to present and very much of the traditional wedding.

We're kind of eloping.

We're having a small destination wedding. Basically my husband and I agreed on legally getting married in the US (courthouse) and having a symbolic destination wedding in Italy. We're saving a lot of money, it's less stressful and we get to travel. A traditional wedding would be a waste of money for us. A lot of people have been offended or confused by our decisions, but it's our wedding. We want to enjoy it!

When it comes to eloping, do whatever makes you happy!
