Eloping is definitely on my mind

Has anyone ever stopped in the middle of planning and paying to elope?? I’m definitely looking into Vegas and have a destination wedding with whoever wants to come

We've definitely thought about it. Many times. You have to have a really frank conversation with your FH about what your motivations are for a "traditional" wedding and whether you feel those motivations warrant all the money spent and stress caused. We probably would just go to City Hall and be done with it, but I figure we only get to get married once and I don't want to regret not having a day spent with our families and friends celebrating us. It's really about what feels right for the two of you and making sure you get what you really want from the day.

I’ve spoken with him. He’s military so most of his family couldn’t Afford to travel so he’s okay with it. Me personally, I’m extremely shy, even though I really want a wedding that I’ll never forget I’m afraid I would be awkward. So just getting my close friends and relatives to pay for their trip to wherever the destination may be seems to be better and it can be the ceremony and honeymoon all together

Today, actually! We were at the doctors and I’ve got a bad cold. The cost alone was high I kind of looked at him and felt maybe it would be more responsible if we just canceled it. (He’s amazing and squishes all my worries).

I think all couples go through it. Between the lack of shopping experience (most of us won’t run an event like this again) and the wedding industry’s sales pitch (it’s the most important day of your life.) it can feel overwhelming.

I think every couple goes through some version of that. It’s totally normal.

I thought about it aha it was a lot of stress to plan but at the end of the day I wanted our friends and family there. ‘I’ve a coworker who eloped and then six months later had a big reception.

It was good. Initially they thought about doing a family only dinner with just the immediate members of their family but eventually they realized they wanted to celebrate with all of their friends and family
