Eloping in the time of Corona

Hi. We're in the epicenter here in Manhattan. We just made the decision to move our May 24th wedding to October 18th. I'm concerned things won't be "normal" then and we'll be right back where we started in the Fall. My mom is really encouraging us to elope when we have the chance. As far as I know, the marriage bureaus in Manhattan are closed. I saw that Yonkers has a drive through for licenses but that's for Yonkers residents or those with extreme circumstances (pregnancy, military deployment). Does anyone have more information on how to get a marriage license at this time? Sending all my love to my fellow corona brides. I wouldn't get through this without these forums.

    Hi Risa! The county and city clerk closures have definitely made things more difficult!

    All of the NYC marriage bureaus are closed until further notice and are not issuing licenses, but you can start applying online which would put your application in line for when they do start opening. You can keep an eye on the Manhattan offices and wait, or you can start reaching out to other NY cities and counties individually to see if any of them are still offering marriage services.

    Keep us posted with any info you learn so we can share it with other NY couples!!

    Hi Risa! Did you hear the news? On April 18th Governor Cuomo announced a new executive order allowing New Yorkers to obtain a marriage license remotely. I'd check your city clerk's website to see if they have new information available!!
