Eloping in Florence Italy in 4 months

Joslyn, on May 8, 2016 at 7:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi, my fiancé and I had a trip planned to Italy, this September, before getting engaged. With the stress of trying to make everyone mutually happy and for financial reasons, we've decided to get married in Italy (by ourselves).

I have done a lot of research online but the process still seems a bit daunting. We are looking for good ceremony sites now in Florence/Tuscany/CinqueTerre and I have contacted a few photographers via Fearless Photography.

Has anyone else eloped in Italy or had a very small destination wedding there? We could REALLY use some guidance with this process.

We need to find a

- Ceremony site

- Translator

- Witnesses

- Photographer

- Hair and makeup

- Videographer (maybe... We have also considered just setting up our GoPro)

If anyone has any advice at all it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you Smiley smile

    Hey Joslyn,

This sounds amazing! I haven’t been to Italy but am actually also planning a fall trip to Rome and Florence. We eloped to San Sebastian, Spain last year and honeymooned in Paris. Our hotel (the Maria Cristina) was a huge help in referring us to fabulous vendors- have you decided where you are staying yet? I didn’t see an officiant or wedding planner on your list of needs, have you considered either? Ours was one in the same (a wedding planner who officiated), she was SUPER reasonably priced for an elopement and helped us to pull together all the details on the ground. We were able to Skype with her in Spain (she spoke English) and we felt like she understood what we wanted. If you hire a wedding planner or officiant they can give you recommendations for locations, flowers, dinner, hair and make-up, etc. Great choice of destination and best of luck to you!! –Jo

Hi Joslyn, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters. You can do this on a desktop computer or a mobile browser (just not on the app) under My Settings and Profile and Privacy Settings.

You should check out our sister site in Italy : https://www.matrimonio.com/. It's filled with local vendors and suggestions!

Hi Joslyn, did you end up eloping in Italy? We've started looking into this but not sure where to start!
