Eloping announcement

Nanci, on September 9, 2019 at 11:37 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
Hey Everyone,
So me and my guy are basically eloping and having a private ceremony in a park. What's the best way to tell family and friends after the fact?

I would send marriage announcements, same as send the dates basically. Preferably with photos of you and FH if possible.

Immediate family and close friends, I would tell them in person. Marriage announcements for everyone else!

    Send announcements.

They're like Invitations, but after the fact.

Check the Wedding section of your local 📰 for the correct wording.

It’s something like “Jane Doe, daughter of Josh and Maura Doe and John Smith, son of Dr. and Mrs. Joshua Smith were married on October 5, 2019 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Rev. Ruby or (Judge Smith) officiated.

The Bride is a graduate of ABC High School and DEF University. She is employed with XYZ, Inc.

The Groom is a graduate of Charter High School and Big Deal University. He is employed with Doe Supplies.

After a Honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Anytown, Your State.”

You can provide as much as you want to include.

I'd tell immediate family in person or over the phone if you absolutely can't in person. Otherwise I'd send announcements to everyone else!

Eloping is going away without without any family or friends, without notifying people ,to get married. A small private ceremony is having a very few friends or family present, in a place closed to the general public, whether near home of a distance away. You are not eloping. You are telling the key people you want. And immediately after it happens may send an announcement card. Include someplace in it your names and titles that you prefer to have used in the future, as well as contact info.

I always thought of announcing an elopement in the same way you'd announce a pregnancy. Then inviting others to come celebrate the union at a reception to be held later.
