Elopement/renewal of Vow

Amanda, on July 13, 2020 at 7:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Is there anyone else who has postponed their wedding and decided to elope this year instead? I have postpone my wedding from 8/22/2020 to 8/27/2021 and decided to renew our vows next year. This year, we will be getting eloped as we didn't chose or wanted to wait.

If you have gone with a similar plans, what are you planning on doing when renewing your vows? Are you keeping the same plans in place? This includes hair/make-up, photographer, venue, DJ, cake, and food. Is there anything that you have decided to take out to save money? I somewhat feel like we may be going overboard, even though I went to the vendors that were not too expensive.

If we have to cancel our wedding on 9/12/20, we will elope and do a vow renewal next year around our one year anniversary. The only thing I’m unsure about is whether I wear my dress for the elopement or get something simple and save it. Otherwise, our wedding is already pretty simple and the only vendors we have are venue, caterer, and photographer. Everything else is pretty much diy, and I can easily save it all.

We have postponed our big October celebration to next year, and are getting married this year with just immediate family. I am keeping everything we had planned for next year, it is the wedding of my dreams, and I intend on having it, even if it is at our one year renewal!

That is our plan B. If we can’t have our wedding that we planned on 10/30/2020, we will get legally married by the county on our original date and move the entire wedding celebration with a vow renewal to our backup date in April 2021. Our venue let us do a soft hold on our backup date. Hopefully, it is somewhat back to normal next year in spring.

That's our plan! We are getting married on October 2nd, and doing a vow renewal next year on the same date. We were planning to just head up to the redwoods park and do it there with just our immediate family. I'm buying a different dress but not willing to spend more than 300/400 on it, and I'm doing my own hair and makeup. We're keeping all of our decorations and things for the wedding and intend on using it next year :-)

But I understand what you mean about the going overboard thing, especially including the costs of things involved in our elopement. We decided to cut our guest list of 150 to 100 for our vow renewal next year as we intend to have the friends that we really want there over extended family that we feel like we would have needed to invite in an ideal wedding situation. After all, the vow renewal for us will finally give us a chance to celebrate our love and we want to do that with just the people we really want there :-)
