So my bf of 11 yrs doesn’t have a large family and I do. We’ve decided to do close family; like parents and siblings but I also want to invite my grandma because she’s been asking for years if she could be at the wedding. She wants to see me get married. I’m trying to see how many family members he wants to invite. I don’t know how to do that. I’ve asked he just seems upset and doesn’t want to talk about it or says whatever I want.

That's hard.. what is your FH upset about? Does he really want to do the elopement? Maybe he feels bad about leaving people out? Or something else is going on? The elopement sounds very nice but I think you should wait for your FH to cool off and then ask him if there's something that he'd like to talk about.

I'm really sorry that you are feeling like this and that your FH doesn't seem to be as excited as you are. I think it's a great idea to only invite close family to your wedding so that he feels more comfortable. You can also assure him that your family are there to celebrate your marriage and are there just as much for him as they are for you. He may feel like he won't be able to match the number of family members you are inviting but it's important for him to realize that all guests are there for you both and will not be picking a side.

He is the one who wants the elopement. But just the two of us and a couple of our friends. I would like it with family. We’ve been trying to plan it for a little more then a year. We came to conclusion to do it on our 12th year anniversary.
