Hello! I am recently engaged and we plan on eloping in August of 2018 and then having a reception back home (Indiana) We are thinking about going to Oregon and staying a week and a half but I was wondering if anybody has any tips, ideas, or advice? I am having a hard time finding much help searching online =)

I love cheese, so if I were going to Oregon I'd want to stop in Tillamook. And of course Portland would be fun to visit for food, art, music, and shopping.

As an Oregon native, I could not support this idea more! I second the Crater Lake suggestion, as well as the coast (it will be beautiful in August). You can drive from the northern part of the state (Portland) to the south in just a few hours. I would recommend renting a car and exploring along I-5!

Look into Ashland, which is right on the California border. I grew up there and it's probably the most beautiful place on earth with tons to do.

I live in Oregon and the whole state is flipping beautiful! Crater lake is great. Willamette valley has amazing wines and vineyards. There's tons of waterfalls. Multnomah falls is not far from Portland.

Here's a pic from Tumalo falls just outside of Bend. FH and I hiked up there a few weeks ago!

I also would suggest hiking to blue pool. It is so beautiful. The Saturday market in Eugene and Portland are both awesome. Also if you are beer drinkers, Bend has a ton of great breweries that are always a blast to visit. I love being an Oregon native Smiley winking

My FH and I got engaged in Portland at the Japanese Garden last August!! If you end up in Portland and if you guys are foodies, check out Pine Street Market. It's an awesome market with several awesome food vendors and there is a mini bar on the inside! Also, My photographer did an engagement session along the Columbia Gorge back in April and I'm so obsessed with how beautiful it is! Here's a link to check out if you'd like http://www.maheuxstudios.com/blog/michael-aaron-engagement Happy planning! You can't go wrong with such a gorgeous, fun state!

Oregon is life! Are you guys beer drinkers? Or outdoor enthusiasts? If so, Bend is amazing, lots of breweries, hiking, paddleboarding, etc. It's beautiful too and has tons of restaurants. Portland is a lot of fun city-wise, lots of city-esque things to do there (I would prefer going to other places in OR though). Multnomah Falls is a fun stop or hike. The Oregon Coast is stunning, my fave is Cannon Beach or Newport. There are lots of sweet vrbo's or air b&b's there that are so cozy and fun. Lots of cute restaurants and the beaches are stellar (they are walkable/runable, not for swimming), you can see Haystack Rock (a pretty famous landmark) in Cannon Beach. If you have time driving the coast is incredible. I would also suggest Crater Lake, I've never been but am DYING to. It looks amazing!

ETA forgot to add Hood River! It's a tiny town but a few breweries and restaurants. Our fave is Pfriem!

Oregon is the best but I might be partial Smiley winking I would definitely suggest the coast especially in August it'll be beautiful there! But the gorge and hood river area is super nice too. Bend is great but in August is usually pretty hot. What things do you want to see/do here?

I lived in Oregon for 7 years and it's absolutely GORGEOUS! I definitely recommend getting a hotel or beachouse on the coast. Even do the same thing at Mt. Hood. Venture through downtown Portland! Oh so many options! So cool that you're wanting to go to Oregon. It's absolutely stunning!

Too many good options! Hood River/ Columbia Gorge for hiking and waterfalls and orchards. Ashland is where we are going, artsy town in Southern Oregon with the Shakespeare Festival (lots of plays, not just shakespeare). They are on the North and South sides of Oregon but I second what someone said about a road trip. You could go from Hood River to Ashland along the I-5, stopping in Portland or Eugene, or through central Oregon stopping in Bend. If you go to Hood River, I recommend Cicci Gelato on the riverfront! In Eugene, Tacovore. In Ashland, there is this little breakfast cafe with the BEST breakfast burritos, just Yelp search for it.

Are you looking for places to elope? When we were in Oregon we drove down the coast to California (about 4-6hours) and saw the red woods- just amazing. They have a place called the trees of mystery that's very cool and they do weddings there. There was a beautiful space where there were trees in a cathedral placement and they had an alter for ceremonies. Not Oregon but near by!

It kind of depends what your into! I would defiantly say anywhere on the Oregon Coast is gorgeous another place is Wallowa Lake in Joseph Oregon it is super pretty in the summer there is the Tram which takes you up the mountain side, you can rent boats or a paddle board, or ride horses. They also have cabins you can rent as well! I have heard of people eloping on the top of the mountain after riding the tram.

As a Portland native, I'll throw in a vote for Bend. You can make a Crater Lake day trip from there too. Be sure to visit Smith Rock State Park, Tumalo Falls, Lava Caves and as many breweries on the Ale Trail as you can!

ETA: Our wedding is in Hood River so I'd suggest that too, especially if you enjoy hiking and waterfalls.

August is usually comfortably warm on the coast, as compared to a lot of inland areas. If you do go to the coast, our beaches are publicly owned! Many people enjoy kite flying on the actual beach if you like stuff like that. Plus art and gift boutiques galore.

Crater lake is amazing. Cannon beach would also be incredible. The coast line is just so majestic. Cannon beach is a super adorable town as well with plenty to do. Think cute cafes, little hotels, local theater (The Coaster Theater), tons of little shops and beaches for days.
