Elopement guilt

Lisa, on September 22, 2017 at 12:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I'm getting "eloped" in 3 weeks with just immediate family present. My parents and siblings and my future husbands parents and siblings and his grandparents. I have one aunt that I really feel bad not inviting because she's done a lot for me and I'm the closest with her. I just feel like if I invite her other aunts and uncles will get offended or upset. Should I stick to immediate family only or do I invite her at the risk of pissing off loved ones?

This is tough, I'm sorry. This is why I ended up having a big wedding, because I couldn't just have immediate family there and I didn't want anyone to be left out.

I know it's hard, but I'd say leave your aunt out. Its just a lot of trouble and hurt feelings otherwise. Maybe talk to your aunt and explain the situation? I'm sure she'd be understanding.

An elopement is really just the two of you and witnesses. You're having a small wedding. I would leave it to immediate family. It'll be fine.

Yes. We call it an elopement because we have three weeks to plan it haha. It really was a last minute "let's just do it" decision. We don't have the money for a wedding that includes everyone. Just a small, intimate wedding. I just feel so bad because I told her and her face dropped. :-(
