Elopement dress

Hi!
Do we are eloping at the Brooklyn Bridge next week and here is my dress at my first fitting. I love it! And I’m feeling sad about not ever being able to wear a traditional wedding dress. I’m worried I don’t look as bridal. Can you all offer some encouragement please...

It’s really lovely on you! I think it looks ‘bridal’ but perhaps with a hairpiece and flowers, it will look even more so.

I would stop worrying if I were you. You look like a total bride! A bride who could wear her dress again for a fancy dinner or any other occasion.

This dress is beautiful. And it flatters your shape really well too!

Thank you! The encouragement helps! I think it’s just a bit of sadness bc when do you ever wear a long dress? But part of eloping was saving money and this $500 number is my dream short dress but I wouldn’t have wanted to spend double to triple that for my dream long dress for an elopement.

Your dress is super cute! If you really think you will miss the full-on wedding dress experience, you can order a floor length tulle skirt that ties with a ribbon at the waist from Amazon for less than $30. It would make some great photos.

Your dress is bridal! I agree, once your hair and makeup is done, maybe you’ll feel more bridal! And don’t forget you can always wear a long dress at a vow renewal!

The second I saw it I knew you were showing a picture of your wedding dress. I don't think anyone would think anything otherwise! It's definitely bridal.

You could splurge on a floor length veil (Amazon has some for around 40&dollarSmiley winking for some really dramatic pictures!

Thank you all. I need the encouragement. Our plans have changed so much and we initially were doing a big wedding and I got attached to certain long dresses and then choosing to elope and spend less on a dress has just been hard. I couldn’t find a long one in a price range we were going for for our elopement. It’s def my dream short dress but I think I feel sad about not finding a long one.

If it’s really bothering you I would find a long dress fast. You don’t want to regret it for years to come and every time you see pictures. You have enough time to buy off the rack. Do what your gut is telling you to do. I think it’s a beautiful dress but I don’t think it’s bridal. Good luck!

It's a wonderful dress and definitely bridal. That's something I would be thrilled to wear to an elopement! Add flowers and you'll be gorgeous.

That is the type of dress I am looking at for my microwedding. It is beautiful and looks bridal. I hope you come to love it too or find something long that you can afford.

Very bridal and beautiful. Once you have your hair, make up, maybe a small hairpiece or hat and flowers if you choose, stunning. Remember, eloping is more relaxed and anything goes!! You'll rock this!

Thank you!! I think i just needed to hear that i still look like a bride in a short dress. I’m not a veil girl so i felt like the short dress and no veil may look like I’m at a cocktail party. I feel beautiful in it. The alterations people kept making fun of me for being a bride in a short dress. And I’ve put a lot of pressure on what the dress should be and represent and I’m just adjusting to it being short. But it’s perfect for the venue and elopement and i don’t think I’d find anything as flattering in my price range.

I don’t know that it’s about the length as much as it is about the pressure I’ve put on what a dress should represent for me. I have no family and just made the dress this one thing i can do. We’ve had a rocky engagement due to family drama and it’s been hard to sift through that and not make the dress the representation of that stuff being ok. I made this assumption that for a dress to be bridal and grand, it has to be long.
