Elopement decisions

Jackie, on February 19, 2020 at 8:31 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Hey so i'm kind of getting nervous about the wedding, i don't have much locked down and the wedding is less then 2 months away. I NEED some advice. is this normal to start freaking out?

Well, to the details, We planned on Eloping to NC from NJ. We invited about 52 guest. Half of the guest have responded, with 50% saying no and 50%saying yes.

With an average of maybe 30 people, i was planning on having a DJ. But if the numbers drop under 25, should I drop having a DJ and play music on a CD with some songs thrown on it? What would be the point of a DJ with 16 people.

As far as the venue I suppose we could still do the Buffet Style with apps, and dessert i was going to get a cake for us as a couple with cupcakes.

I don't have a wedding planner or someone to coordinate. Do i need one for such a small event? have someone in the family do it? what if no one wants to?

We are suppose to go down March 13th and 14th to take decorations down and talk to a photographer for the reception (Elopement company handles the ceremony) and a few cake testing for the cakes.

I haven't had much help on planning and helping out with these decisions, so im turning to my weddingwire buddies to help. Sorry if im rambling!

I wouldnt pay for a DJ that small, just get some bluetooth speakers and they will work great. Pay for spotify premium for a month and then cancel after, you can create playlists ahead of time or pick from tons of premade lists. I wouldn't worry about a wedding planner, it seems small enough you can do it and hopefully have another person to step in as well. Buffet, apps and dessert sound perfect. Don't stress it sounds like you have a plan!

I definitely agree using a Spotify playlist over a CD.

I do think having a planner/coordinator would be very helpful since you are planning from out of state. It will relieve a lot of stress.

Buffet style will be perfect for that amount of guests. Have you already decided on what items you will serve? Have you been in communication with a caterer? Or does the elopement company handle that as well?

Also, for the photographer... Do you have anyone in mind yet? I would start researching photographers and reaching out to some since you are so close to your wedding date!

Okay yes I just started contacting coordinators.
As far as food there will be three entrees to pick from, chicken ,beef and seafood. The venue does all of this included.
The elopement company only sets up the ceremony and recommends places for a reception afterwards.

Definitely start contacting photographers ASAP. With only 2 month away, many will already be booked up. So I would make that a priority.

I am doing something similar in my hometown. We will have the simple ceremony in a park that the company uses frequently. I am doing everything myself. If I am not sure or have a question I ask my mom or brother (he has done some events before). Having a buffet style meal, photographer, no video, a DJ and my brother is making the cake. For favors, we are doing a cookie buffet as the favors. I like the Spotify idea to avoid the DJ cost. I know you can pull it all together in the time you have remaining.
