Elopement ceremony- photographers

Carly, on April 9, 2020 at 3:15 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
So before all of this covid-19 stuff we had planned to do a small intimate ceremony, just my fiancé, myself, our officiant, a friend who is a witness, a videographer, and two photographers (a husband and wife), well I had the feeling and emailed them regarding the shelter in place as we live in California and then shelter is until April 30, as of now. They said they are willing to come if the shelter in place is lifted, if not they have weekends available after that date. The date is important to us, and we love their work. But also, they are paid in full so we would lose out on all of that money. So I’m not sure what to do!

I think you have to decide what's most important to you; the date or the money. Unfortunately, you can't expect someone to break the law to work your wedding.

We've already agreed that we'll just lose out on the money if it comes to it. We don't want to sacrifice the date. It's important to us and we've waited long enough to be married. But it's a very personal decision. Maybe you could do a vow renewal with the photographer and videographer?

I don't think you have much of a choice. Since Cali has a shelter in place, I doubt anyone will be coming out until it is lifted. You can double check since the date is important to you but like Caytlyn said you cant expect someone to break the law to work for your wedding. I know its frustrating but this is what we have to deal with right now. So, you can lose the money and hire someone else or just postpone.

    Sorry

    Good Luck and Best Wishes

Thats a really good idea, i like that! Thank you! I definitely don’t want anyone to break the law for us, I totally understand it. Obviously for everyone it’s been a large bump in the road.

    Hi Carly,

It's a tough spot. I'm sorry you're being forced to choose. Unfortunately, neither you nor the photographers/videographer have control over COVID-19 and the corresponding rules.

I like Samantha's suggestion: Maybe you could do a vow renewal with the photographers and videographer?

To add on, perhaps you could have a larger party to celebrate your marriage when social distancing is lifted? It could be casual or more reception-like. Up to you!

Congratulations on your upcoming elopement!!! Smiley heart
