Eloped now what?

Shiann, on June 6, 2019 at 1:09 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
My husband and I eloped alone it was a very intimate romantic ceremony. We have already planned the reception for October. My mother-in-law is still upset we didn’t have a ceremony with our family. Also my dad was a little upset he wasn’t able to walk me down the isle. I’m not against having another ceremony to just renew our vows & at least have them there. I just wanted some advice on if that would be a good idea? We are already having a reception so why not have a small ceremony before to make them happy. Any advice?

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Shiann! Congratulations to you and your husband!! Where did you elope to?

I think it is a wonderful idea to have a reception with your family and friends. This is exactly what my brother and his wife did after they eloped. It really was great to get a chance to celebrate their marriage with them.

Of course, you could have a vow renewal at your reception and that sounds like a beautiful idea, as long as that is what you both want. You obviously chose to elope for a reason so I would advise to just make sure that this is what you want as a married couple and not something you are just doing to please everyone else.

    I hope this is helpful!

How would you feel about running the ceremony idea by your dad & MIL? That may make them happy. If they don’t care at this point, then maybe skip it?
