Elite Signature Djs?

askdlfjsk, on October 29, 2019 at 9:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

Has anyone used them? The reviews on weddingwire are amazing (so I booked...), but then I looked at the reviews on TheKnot.com and Google, and they are DREADFUL. Like nightmarish... so now I am a little nervous, and may eat the cost of the deposit and not sign the contract. Are the reviews on here just fake??

I think that weddingwire evaluates your reviews by validating through the vendor that you actually had a contract with them (not what you said). The Knot doesn't do that and niether does google. Anyone can write reviews on those sites and nobody vets them. I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure that's how that works.

Why would anyone write a fake review? That doesn't make sense to me, so if that is a thing, someone please explain it to me.

I hope someone can tell you more about this place, because that would worry me.

I’ve read obvious fake reviews by people who were mad at someone for some reason, as well as reviews that were clearly written by a friend/3rd party not part of the event— for example, 1 person went to a restaurant and had a bad experience with the host being rude. so they posted of FB or reached out to some friends “ugh this place is horrible! Give them
bad reviews!” And suddenly there’s 10 new 1 star reviews referencing someone else’s experience. Which isn’t exactly fair. I noticed I in some vendor reviews where there were about 5 reviews for the same one vendor referencing the same events (it was very clear that it was one specific thing that happened once)— so it does happen! And the opposite exists too , friends giving 5 star reviews to promote their friends’ businesses even though they’ve never used them.
Though not sure what is going on with the OP’s vendor.

To the OP- it is ALWAYS fair to address something you read in a review with your vendor , so If you’re second guessing them, I’d give them a chance to explain and see how it goes (how they react can be even more telling about their character than what they actually say). I’d look at the specific allegations in the reviews and see how they line up with your own interactions and determine if they’re consistent or not (ie someone says “they’re awful communicators through and through!” and you’ve had only positive experiences thus far, I’d give a bit of credit to experience versus hearsay) ...although if it’s a bunch of awful day of stuff you don’t want to leave to chance , you can also speak to them to arm yourself against issues (Ex if a “he called out sick the day of the wedding and we had no music!” review, make sure to speak with them about a back up plan, and work it into
the contract , requiring them to provide a replacement etc) . But, I’d speak to them first. Find out the story, find out if they can alleviate some of their concerns, especially if your experiences have been good thus far and you haven’t personally seen red flags. If they can’t, then go ahead and move on (and expect to forfeit deposit)

Smiley atonished Maybe I'm paranoid, but I've heard of companies leaving positive reviews masquerading as customers

Ok, I have heard of that regarding stores/products, like Home Depot, etc. I guess one thing I do to make sure companies are legit, or that their reviews are real is to go on Facebook. It may sound funny, but if you make a post, asking if anyone has used them, and what was their experience, then you'll get real people, talking about their experience with them.

Hi Bridget! I always encourage everyone to read all the reviews they can get their hands on!! It's definitely important to check up on reviews from multiple sources. I also always make sure to read a few of the worst reviews and check the dates to see when they were written - recency can be a big factor especially with larger companies like venues, where a new wedding coordinator can come in and totally change the experience! On every vendor's WeddingWire page you can filter their reviews by Highest, Lowest, Newest, and Oldest to make sure you check everything out.

It looks like Elite Signature DJs is a pretty large nationwide company, which can definitely lead to a wide range in reviews. This means that they'll probably have great packages, availability, and competitive pricing, but also that they work with a lot of different DJs. I would search for reviews that specifically mention your area and take note if any specific DJ names keep popping up! If a bunch of recent reviews say "DJ Joe" was fantastic but "DJ Tom" wasn't great, then I'd definitely be asking if they specifically have Joe available for your wedding!

If you have any other questions about WeddingWire's review process I'm more than happy to answer them! Our review policy is really strict, and per our terms of use a user must have done business with the vendor they're posting feedback for. And if they are a legitimate client then their review will stay up - whether it's negative, positive, or neutral.
