Elevator Attendant

A.B., on November 9, 2021 at 8:15 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hello,

I'm getting ready to withdraw money for tips and I can't find online how much you should tip the elevator attendant. It's a big elevator that will have a person operating it. I know I should tip this person but I have no idea how much. For the DOC we are tipping $50 (she owns the business) and the bartender we're just goin to tip what you'd would normally tip on an alcohol bill. But I have no idea what to tip the elevator attendant. We're on a tight budget but I still want to make sure they receive something (and not so little it's offensive.)

Edit: sorry this is in the wrong section. Does anyone know how to move it?

    Oh man - that's a tough one!!

The only tipping guides I can find online refer to either every time you enter an elevator with an attendant (tip a few dollars) or advice on how much to tip the elevator attendant in your building during the holiday season ($30-$50).

I'd try asking your venue or DOC for a recommendation, but otherwise I'd go with the $30-$50 range (or $20-$30 minimum)!

Tip whatever you can comfortably afford if they go above and beyond.
