Hi all, I'd love some input because I'm scratching my head a bit and it's surprisingly hard to find stuff on Pinterest! My venue has a tented patio for the ceremony adjoining the ballroom that transitions perfectly, so we're going to use it. The pics above are snagged from their online gallery, and a (low quality) yelp photo. They have the walls that can be dropped down and the gathered material at the poles. We'll be using the white chairs provided as well, same setup as the first pic.

I'm just not in love with the way the tent backdrop looks. I don't really want the background of photos from the ceremony to be open to the street (as shown by the car parked in the last pic), but a plain tent wall with the faux windows just doesn't look great to me. I'll make it work no matter what, but I'm at a loss of what I can do to make it look a little more elegant and cover the background where we'll stand.
We were thinking of draping the entire back end with fabrics matching the theme colors in pink, purple, and green, and having a decorative pedestal with a large silver floral vase. I just worry a fabric wall might look out of place and pop out too much, and an arch under a tent strikes me as a bit redundant and out of place. Has anyone else ever had experience with 'disguising' a tent wall/background for lack of better terms? What did you do, and what would you recommend?

The most basic would be to get a lightweight foldable partition. It might be a darker color or something to contrast with the wedding couple. Possible add a garland across the top. Then add several potted bushes across the face of the partition. Also, for your theme, you might add a couple small statues.

I suggest renting potted trees to fill in these spaces. They are still in theme with the semi-outdoor ambiance and define the ceremony space without trapping people in like faux plastic or cloth covered walls. One to two trees per hole is chic and you can still add your colors by placing a single bow. Sometimes with decor, hosts can get so concerned with hiding flaws that they do too much which actually draws attention to the ugly. Your guests will still be facing forward, eyes on you. Your photographer will similarly focus their lense on you or on close-ups of guests, not the walls. Keep solutions simple and low cost and your worries will (hopefully) be less.

I love that idea!!! I ran it by my family and it turns out they were looking at some small trees for landscaping anyways, so sounds like they might buy some nice little trees to use for the ceremony and plant them in their yard when it's done!

That is all the better regarding the family needing some trees. Then you do not have to worry about renting or otherwise having trees with no home afterwards. Maybe the nursery will even deliver them to the wedding siteSmiley laugh

Glad this could work out. Another option could be ferns hanging from the tent frame as these plants were very popular during late Victorian times. Best wishes
