Electronic save the dates ?

Camille , on September 15, 2017 at 3:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Starting the process on creating our save the dates. Was wondering has anyone ever just sent electronic save the dates instead of mailing them out ? I know ppl have skipped the invitations and placed it on a wedding website but what about for save the dates ? What have you gals done ?

I just didn't send them and am sending my invitations a little earlier. About 8-10 weeks early.

Our photographer gave us STDs with our engagement pictures on them included in the price, so that's what we used. I see the allure of going digital, but a digital message seems like it would be more easily misplaced than a hard copy. Plus, I love having cards to look at on my refrigerator and remind me!

Not a fan of anything electronic for a wedding. It's a life-changing event that deserves the dignity of a paper invitation.

You can skip STDs altogether rather than sending an evite (those feel more like work happy hours and kids' parties). If you have OOT guests or visitors, just call and give them your date.

We did Save the dates - very reasonable on vista print for glossy - and postage was ok.

We are not doing RSVP cards - using online RSVP or text/call options. this way people can ask any questions they might have... GOOD LUCK...

It didn't work well for us. Our STD got sent to quite a few junk folders for DH's side of the family.

I think the concern was more for out of town guest and international ones. Especially for older ppl they probably prefer mailed std as well. Just debating on doing paper invites and just have electronic rsvp or just put it on a simple wedding website. Thanks for the advice everyone

I would also like to have a copy and place it in the wedding album as well and since we will only probably need 50 std it should be too bad. I have looked at shutterfly and vista print some are less than a buck.... it's the printed invites that I would like to save money on if possible.

We are having a small, intimate wedding and sent out email save the dates to our families. It was honestly the easiest way to communicate back and forth since I have family from FL, VA, PA, MD and WY and they wanted to make sure they had extra time to spend together. We followed that with formal paper invitations on the normal time frame. Not sure what I would have done if we had a larger wedding... Probably skipped save the dates altogether and contacted any out of town guests directly.
