Early October Ceremony Start Time?!

LJ, on December 11, 2019 at 12:08 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
Any early October 2020 New England brides stuck on a ceremony start time? We want to have the reception at night, and are stumped on when to start the ceremony, as our venue gives us 5.5 hours. We are thinking between 4:30-5:30, and want to make sure we have plenty of daylight for pictures as well as letting the reception go long enough ideally 10pm -ish. Any input is helpful!

Not sure where in New England you live, but I am from PA and live in MD and the sun generally sets around 6:30-6:45 in early October. In order to determine when you want to start your ceremony, you need to consider how long your ceremony is, if you are doing a receiving line and how long photos will take. The length of time for photos depends on many you plan on taking.

I live in N.H. and the sun usually goes down around 5:30... you can look at this years sunset around when your wedding will be next year... we are having ours around daylight savings which will make it even harder because it gets dark so quick Smiley sad

FYI you can google the sunset time for your date and it will tell you exactly when sunset is. 10/10/20 is 6:39pm in VA where I live. I'm having my ceremony at like 3PM with pictures before the ceremony and a little bit afterwards. My cocktail hour will be like 3:30-4:30 and dinner will be served at like 5:00pm. My end time is 9:30pm because FH is obsessed with having an after party.

I got married October 5th of this year & we started our ceremony at 5:30 p.m. We had plenty of light for photos, but it began to get dark just in time for our reception, which is exactly what we wanted. It also worked out perfect for dinner timing.

I'm In Michigan, my wedding was this past October. It was mid month, but before the time change,. We had ours scheduled for 4 but it started about 4:40. It was still light out when it started and ended, and we were able to take a bunch of pics outside.
