Just Said Yes November 2019

Early gift

A coworker of mine (who is not invited to our small wedding) bought us an gift (coffee maker) off our registry through Amazon and it has arrived already. I was touched and appreciate her thoughtfulness. My questions are 1) do I send a thank you note now or with all the other thank you’d after the wedding and 2) can we start using the coffee maker? Our wedding is in a little over two months. Thanks!

Yes send the thank you note now so she knows you got it and yes you can definitely start using it!

Yes send the note now. You can use it now. But be aware, should the wedding not happen for any reason, you are expected to return the presents new in factory boxes, unused, or the exact cost paid for them..
A coffee pot, no big deal. You could come up with the money. But an expensive thing, should it get damaged or show signs of use, say a computer, you might want to wait. Too much money. No one expects to cancel. Or to get ill and delay a year, whatever. But it happens.
