Dying your wedding shoes

Tabitha, on November 16, 2017 at 11:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I just bought my shoes today. I want to dye them instead of wearing the traditional white shoes. Has anyone done this and how did it turn out? I'm thinking about dying my shoes and my lace up dress strap the same color to match. FH will be wearing the same color suspenders.

Satin. I've done alot of research looking into this. I know only a certain type of fabric can be dyed.

I have no experience here, but I'd definitely make sure the color doesn't transfer to your dress. Good luck, post pics!

I would suggest calling local shoe places and seeing if they will do it. Getting an exact color can be hard. But if you want to do it yourself get the power dye from hobby lobby or Michael's, put it in a huge bucket with the amount of water you need for your color and let them sit in it til the color is wjat you want. But I am not a professional.

Yes. I tried to mix colors myself with a swatch but had to mix several colors together to get close to my mint green. Mint green apparently is not a common color. Thought it would be for like spring colors but what do I know. Since I had to go through all of that just to get my color I figured I would let a professional do it. Don't wanna ruin my shoes. Just concerned that they won't be able to match my swatch since I had trouble. It seems like every place has their own version of mint green.

If you take them the swatch they should be able to match it. Yes every place has their own take on colors but with a swatch it shouldn't be a problem. Call and ask if I bring in a swatch will you be abnle to match it?

In 1990 I wore dyed shoes in a friend's wedding. They were beautiful. Had no issues with the color bleeding as I have heard some do. Just make sure to use a reputable company and read the reviews. Best of luck.
