Well videography could not be put in our budget. I have a small cam corder that I will have someone record our ceremony. I was thinking of doing my own wedding video. Obviously it will not be of the same quality. But I want something. Does anyone know of any easy video editing software? Or any other ways I could edit a home video?

I'm doing the same thing. My grandparents have a very nice digital camera that is never used. Walmart and Best Buy sell 5 foot tripods for $20 and I'm going to set one up off to the side.
    Following this for editing ideas.

I use Cyberlinks Power Director video editing software. It is easy to use, and it allowsvyouvto download a 30 day trial to see if you like it. They also have a large community of members with tips and special effects that you can download for free.

A cute idea, if in budget, would be to set up an additional camera somewhere and have people record a message for you to look back on (that's what we're doing) and to set up cameras for people to take their own pictures and you can develop it after the wedding and make a scrapbook. As for editing - Final Cut Pro is really good and easy to learn if you watch tutorials.

I would get a tripod and set it up to record rather than tasking someone with this. That would mean they are worrying about recording instead of enjoying your ceremony, and also that they will feel the pressure of getting your wedding video 'right'.

My parents did a "DIY" wedding video 20 years ago and love it just as much as the "professional" ones - maybe even more so because they didn't have to pay $2,000+ for it.

For editing, there's online people you can hire to edit photos/video to your liking. Some can be upwards of a few hundred dollars, however, you would have time to save up money for it after the wedding if you record it yourself.

Another idea is to set up a 2nd tri-pod, so when the video is being edited they have more freedom to include the best angle for the moment.

If you're looking for a completely DIY approach, iMovie will probably be your best bet.
