dxl Alterations

Ciara, on September 30, 2018 at 6:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
Hi everyone! I’m having a small freak out. My fiancé bought his suite from Destinaton XL on clearance ($600 down to $130). When it arrived it was HUGE. He’s been losing weight and has lost about 75lbs, so we ordered his suite 4 sizes smaller than his previous suite jacket, but it was still too big. We decided to get it altered vs buying new. It cost us $120 to get altered and we picked it up today. It’s still too big, like, sloppy big. Does anyone have experience getting alterations from DXL and if they will fix the alterations since they weren’t taken in enough? He’s only lost like 5lbs since we had it altered, so not enough to really make a difference in fit. I want him to feel confident and sexy. Please help!

We just picked it up and he tried in on at home. The last thing he wanted to do was try on his suit at the store. I'll give them a call tomorrow, Thanks!!

Hi Ciara! I'm sorry to hear that you all are experiencing a bit of trouble with alterations. I can't say that I have ever dealt with that particular store but I can definitely relate. Although having alterations done at the place where you purchased a suit or gown is very convenient, in some cases you may need to step outside of the store. In this instance, I would suggest taking his suit to a local tailor or seamstress and having them take a look at it. It sounds like he needs someone to go back in and make a few adjustments. During the fitting, I would recommend your fiance to be very vocal about how he wants his suit to fit, especially if it's not fitting to his liking. They can always adjust the pins before starting the alterations.

Since posting, have you spoken with the store?

Yes, we just got done at the store. Unfortunately, their seamstress is only in tomorrow while my FH is at work and won’t be able to help. Instead, they recommended other local seamstresses. I’m disappointed that they didn’t make things right, especially when we’ve paid them a couple hundred dollars in alterations.
