Should I wait to unfriend the bride before or after the wedding? I’m the maid of honor for my best friend of 10 years. The wedding is in 6 months. Super quick engagement and even quicker wedding planning. She’s been engaged before in her last relationship that was full of financial and emotional DV and I waited 3 years for her to get out while is stayed by her side the whole time. She jumped right to another relationship in which she is engaged again and this relationship seems a lot worse than the prior from the outside looking in. There was a nasty screaming fight in front of me where he wasn’t happy until she started screaming back and I am now scared of her Fiancé and tired of helping her through these relationships. How can I stay her MOH when I’m scared of the groom? I don’t want to be around either of them anymore. Do I stay the MOH?

I definitely would not remain MOH for a wedding you do not support. I would be very open and honest with your friend about your concerns and the reason you feel you need to step down as MOH and distance yourself from her partner. It sounds like you plan to end your friendship with her, so I wouldn’t want to ruin her wedding pictures (I doubt she will want to look at or display any photos of someone who is no longer her friend), nor would I want to contribute any more mentally, emotionally or financially toward the wedding.

Thank you sm, I was worried about her wedding pictures too. I am looking to end our friendship. This is wonderful advice, I needed that wording of “a wedding I do not support.” Thank you again I will talk with her.
