This feels like a stupid question, but what's the best way to ensure my invitations go out properly - after they're all sealed with correct postage (I already got them weighed before I bought stamps), should I just put them in the post office mailbox, or should I take them in and give them to a person (is that a thing for regular letter mail?).

If it put them in the mailbox, should I rubber band them together?

Thanks!

I think the safest option is taking them to the USPS office!

I just put all of mine in my mailbox at home and I haven't had any issues. They went out Tuesday last week and I've had quite a few people tell me they've received them.

I just walked in with my bundle of graduation invites, postcards style, and asked the fella how I would ship them out in an outside mailbox on the premises. He said, do not rubber band them, put them in so they are collected individually mail. Hope this helps!

OP has been married for six years so I doubt she's still looking for advice. If you want fresh eyes it would be better to start a new thread. But to answer the question, I hand delivered my invitations to the post office customer service counter and asked for them to be hand stamped.

Because so many of these threads are old, and the OP has been long gone since the most recent posted date, you’re better starting a brand new post.

Where we are, there are no outside mailboxes. Hand delivery to local guests (which WW doesn’t like some unknown reason and considers a faux pas) and handing them to the postal worker at the counter is the best option. As long as they were taken care of, we didn’t care one way or another about whether they were hand stamped or not because they still have to go through multiple machines before they reach their destination.

Hand delivery is not and has never been a faux pas. At one time it was considered the most gracious way to deliver an invitation to a home.

Hand cancelling avoids possible damage because the mail only goes through on flat belts.
