Dumb Question: How To: Invitations

Susan, on August 16, 2019 at 10:01 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

Hey all!

I've seen several of you say that you designed your own STD's or invitations and had Snapfish or Vista Print or somewhere print them for you. How did you do that? Did you create them with your Cricut or word processor and then scan and upload? How do they look such that they're not like a Xerox copy? I've found invitations I love, but they cost a good bit of money. Am wondering how others have DIY'ed it and how they turned out. TIA!

I found a template online and just plugged my info in. I was able to get a PDF of it and then I just printed it myself on card stock.

I did ours through Ann's Bridal Bargains. There are several templates to choose from. You customize it with your information and order. They are super cheap, good quality, and it's a quick turn around time.

Premade templates are definitely the easiest way to go. I'm using Microsoft Publisher to make our programs because I play with programs like that fairly often and don't mind spending some time doing it.

I agree with PPs about using a template. Personally, I love several I've seen on Etsy and they are super easy to customize with your info. Many have a demo site you can use to try before you buy a design.

We had both or STDs and invitations designed, printed, and shipped from Vistaprint. For 70 matching STDs it was $70 w/shipping and invitations were $110 w/shipping.

Etsy is a great place to look if you are looking at having completely custom invitations - no template or anything anyone has ever done before. From there, you can usually choose to just purchase the custom template you created and you print them yourself or have the Etsy shop print them for you. I went that direction and completely customized my invitation suite, even the plaid, and the Etsy shop printed everything and shipped it to me.

I'm a photographer and usually send my stuff out to be printed at a professional lab with quality paper options. If you're looking for somewhere affordable but great quality then I reccomend Basic Invite. They are open to non-professionals but due to the fact that pros use it, they ensure everything is great. You can use one of their templates or upload your own (what I'm doing).
I have a discount code if you wanted to check them out.

And if you have any questions about Basic Invite or design in general, feel free to shoot me a message! I'd be glad to help.

We used greetingsisland.com. It has a bunch of templates to choose from and customize. It’s 100% free. You customize the invitation, rsvp or save the dates. Save it and print it. I just went to an office supply store and got some card stock paper. They turned out beautiful!
