Driving in your gown

April, on March 11, 2017 at 2:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

I think I just found the perfect venue! If this works out, we'll be getting married on the beach and having the reception at a nearby restaurant. The ceremony will be short and we'll be in the perfect place to take photos. It is a public beach, so we're thinking about doing it in early spring or in the fall so there isn't a huge crowd. The only problem I thought of is how to get there in my dress. It's about an hour away and I don't see a need for a limo or anything, or would that be too long to sit in the car with a wedding gown on?

edit: we are looking at two different places. One is about 40 minutes away, the other is about an hour and 15 minutes from us, but only 20 minutes from my mom's house

I'd say get your car detailed the week before your wedding so you don't risk ANYTHING getting on your dress. Perhaps experiment sitting in your car with your dress on and see if you can even get comfy. I'd recommend sitting in the back seat where there's more room and you don't distract the driver with tulle fluffing up in their face. If the car doesn't work out, see about renting a small tent for the beach for you and your BMs to change in.

I'm taking my dress with me and having my mom drive me to the venue and then changing when we get to the venue.

Unless there's anywhere close that you can change, definitely line the back with clean sheets and sit there.

A tent is a good idea. Especially if it's off-season. If the weather is below 70 degrees, we'll likely be the only people there. I'm not opposed to getting a limo if it would make life easier either.
